திருக்குறள்:

வானின்று உலகம் வழங்கி வருதலால்

தான்அமிழ்தம் என்றுணரற்பாற்று.

பொருள்:

மழை பெய்வதால் உலகம் நிலைபெற்று வாழ்ந்து வருகிறது; எனவே, பெய்யும் மழையே உலக உயிர்களுக்கு அமிழ்தம் என்று உணரத்தகும்.

விரிவாக்கம்:

இந்த உலகிற்கு வான்மழை இடைவிடாது பொழிவதால்தான் உலக உயிரினங்கள் அனைத்தும் தொடர்ந்து வாழ முடிகிறது. மழை பொழியும்போது உழவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியோடு மண்ணைப் பண்படுத்திப் பயிர்களை விதைக்கின்றனர்; அப்பயிர்கள் முளைத்து உலகிற்கு உணவளிக்கின்றன. எனவே, உலகத்தை வாழ வைக்கும் வான்மழையை உயிர்களைக் காக்கும் 'அமிழ்தம்' என்றே கருத வேண்டும் என்பதை இக்குறள் எடுத்துரைக்கின்றது. — தினமும் ஒரு குறளும் பொருளும் விரிவாக்கமும். பாலாஜி பாலசுப்பிரமணியம்.

தமிழனை தமிழனே ஆளவேண்டும்  அடிமைபடுத்தாமல்  அமைதியாக ஆளவேண்டும்  தமிழன் சுதந்திரமாக வாழவேண்டும் சுயநிர்ணயத்துடன் வாழவேண்டும்

Meaning:

Because rain sustains the world, it is to be known as the divine ambrosia (nectar of life) that keeps all living beings alive.

Explanation:

The continuation of all life on Earth depends entirely on timely rainfall. When rain falls, farmers joyfully till the land and grow crops that nourish society. Since it nurtures nature, sustains agriculture, and keeps humanity thriving, rain holds the sacred position of life-giving nectar.
