திருக்குறள்:

சிறப்பீனும் செல்வமும் ஈனும் அறத்தினூங்கு

ஆக்கம் எவனோ உயிர்க்கு.

பொருள்:

அறநெறி ஒருவனுக்குப் புகழையும் தரும்; செல்வத்தையும் தரும். ஆகையால், உயிர்களுக்கு அந்த அறத்தை விட நன்மையளிக்கும் பேறு வேறு எதுவுமில்லை.

விரிவாக்கம்:

மனிதர்கள் வாழ்வில் பெறத்தக்க மேன்மையான சிறப்பையும், நேர்மையான வழியில் சேரும் செல்வத்தையும் தரக்கூடியது அறநெறியே ஆகும். எனவே, மனித வாழ்க்கைக்குச் சமுதாய உயர்வை அளித்து, செழிப்பான வாழ்வைத் தரும் அறத்தை விட மேலான வளர்ச்சி தருவது வேறு எதுவுமே இல்லை என்பதை இக்குறள் எடுத்துரைக்கின்றது.
