119/1181:பசப்புறு பருவரல்

திருக்குறள்:1181 

நயந்தவார்க்கு நல்காமை நேர்ந்தேன் பசந்தஎன்

பண்பியார்க்கு உரைக்கோ பிற. 

பொருள்:

பிரிவை விரும்பியவர்க்கு இசைந்ததால், கொடுமைக்கும் இசைந்த பின் என் பசலையை யாரிடம் சொல்வது?  

விரிவாக்கம்:

காதலன் பிரிந்து செல்லத் துணிந்தபோது அதற்கு நான் உடன்பட்டது என் தவறே ஆகும்.

அப்படி ஒப்புக்கொண்ட பின்பு, அதனால் என் மேனியில் படர்ந்த பசலை நோயைப் பற்றி வேறு யாரிடம் நொந்து சொல்வேன்?

என் அறியாமையால் வந்த துன்பத்தை நானே அனுபவிக்க வேண்டி உள்ளது எனத் தலைவி வருந்துகிறாள்.  

English Translation:

Nayandhavaarkku Nalgaamai Naerndhaen Pasanthaen

Panpiyaarkku Uraikko Pira. (Kural 1181)

Meaning:

Having consented to my lover's departure, to whom can I now complain about the pallor that afflicts me?

Explanation:

The maiden regrets consenting to her beloved’s temporary separation.

Having allowed him to leave, she feels she has no right to complain about her resulting grief.

The pallor that spreads over her skin is the price of her own consent, leaving her alone in sorrow.
