126/1258:திருக்குறள்:

பன்மாயக் கள்வன் பணிமொழி அன்றோநம்

பெண்மை உடைக்கும் படை.

பொருள்:

பலவிதமான பொய்களையும் தந்திரங்களையும் செய்யும் கள்வனாகிய தலைவனின் பணிவான இனிய சொற்கள் அல்லவா, நம் பெண்மைக்குரிய நாணத்தையும் அடக்கத்தையும் தகர்க்கும் சிறந்த ஆயுதமாக இருக்கின்றன!

விரிவாக்கம்:

தலைவன் மேல் ஊடல் கொண்டு கோபமாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று தலைவி நினைத்தாலும், அவன் அவளிடம் வந்து பேசும் பணிவான, மென்மையான, தந்திரமான வார்த்தைகள் அவளது கோபத்தை அடியோடு கரைத்துவிடுகின்றன. "நம் மனதைக் கவரும் அத்தனை மாயங்களையும் அறிந்த அக்கள்ளக் காதலன் பேசும் இனிமையான நயவஞ்சகப் பேச்சுதானே, நம் பெண்மையின் அடக்கத்தையும் நாணத்தையும் உடைத்தெறியும் கூர்மையான ஆயுதமாகச் செயல்படுகிறது" என்று தன் தோழியிடம் தலைவி தன் பலவீனத்தையும் அவனது சொல்லாற்றலையும் நயம்பட ஒப்புக் கொள்வதாக இக்குறள் அமைகின்றது.
