127/1268:திருக்குறள்:

வினைகலந்து வென்றீக வேந்தன் மனைகலந்து

மாலை அயர்க்கம் விருந்து.

பொருள்:

நமது வேந்தன் தான் மேற்கொண்ட போரில் வெற்றி பெறட்டும்; அதன் மூலம் யாமும் விரைவாக எம் இல்லத்தை அடைந்து, எம் மனைவியோடு கூடி இம்மாலைப் பொழுதில் வெற்றி விருந்து உண்டு மகிழ்வோமாக!

விரிவாக்கம்:

பாசறையில் இருக்கும் தலைவன் தன் அரசனுக்காகப் போர்க் கடமையை ஆற்றிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறான். நாட்டின் கடமையை முடித்து வெற்றி வாகை சூடினால் மட்டுமே தான் தன் இல்லத்திற்குத் திரும்ப முடியும் என்பதை உணர்ந்தவன், "அரசன் விரைவாகப் போரில் வெற்றி பெறட்டும்; அப்பொழுதுதான் நான் என் தலைவியை விரைந்து சென்று அடைந்து, இம்மாலைப் பொழுதில் அவளோடு ஒன்றிணைந்து பிரிவுத் துயரம் தீர வெற்றி விருந்தைக் கொண்டாடி மகிழ முடியும்" என்று தன் மன விருப்பத்தை நயம்பட வெளிப்படுத்துவதாக இக்குறள் அமைகின்றது.

Meaning:

May our king triumph in his battle, so that we may return home to join our beloved and celebrate this evening with a joyful feast!

Explanation:

Stationed at the military camp, the hero is bound by his duty to his ruler. Yet, his heart longs for his home and his beloved. He prays for his king's swift and decisive victory, knowing that triumph on the battlefield is his path back to his maiden. Only upon his return can they reunite and turn the lonely evening into a celebratory feast of love and togetherness.
