129/1284:திருக்குறள்:

ஊடற்கண் சென்றேன்மன் தோழி அதுமறந்து

கூடற்கண் சென்றதுஎன் நெஞ்சு.

பொருள்:

"தோழியே! தலைவன் செய்த தவறுகளுக்காக அவனிடம் செல்லமாக ஊடல் கொள்ளவே நான் சென்றேன்; ஆனால் என் மனமோ அந்த ஊடலை மறந்து அவனோடு கூடி மகிழ்வதிலேயே சென்றுவிட்டது."

விரிவாக்கம்:

பிரிந்து வந்த தலைவனிடம் கண்டிப்பு காட்டி, சிறிது நேரம் ஊடல் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்ற உறுதியான முடிவோடு தான் தலைவி அவனைச் சந்திக்கச் செல்கிறாள். ஆனால், அவனைக் கண்ட மாத்திரத்திலேயே அவளது மனமானது ஊடலையும் கோபத்தையும் முற்றிலும் மறந்து, அவனோடு தழுவி இணையவே துடிக்கின்றது. "பிணங்கி நிற்க நினைத்த என் மனம், காதலின் ஆசையால் அதை மறந்து கூடலை நோக்கி ஓடிவிட்டதே" என்று தலைவி தன் தோழியிடம் தன் மனதின் இயலாமையை நயம்பட வெளிப்படுத்துகிறாள்.

"O friend! I went with every intention of feigning a quarrel, but forgetting all resentment, my heart rushed straight into his embrace."

However, the moment she stands before him, her resolve completely dissolves under the power of love. Confiding in her maid, she marvels at how her heart instantly abandoned its plan to stay angry, succumbing instead to the irresistible desire for reunion.
