130/1291:திருக்குறள்:

அவர்நெஞ்சு அவர்க்காதல் கண்டே எவன்நெஞ்சே

நீஎமக்கு ஆகாதது.

பொருள்:

"என் நெஞ்சமே! காதலரின் மனமானது அவரிடமே அன்புகொண்டு அவருக்குச் சாதகமாக நிற்பதைக் கண்டும், நீ மட்டும் எனக்குச் சாதகமாக இல்லாமல் அவரிடமே அன்புகொண்டு மாறுபட்டு நிற்பது ஏன்?"

விரிவாக்கம்:

தலைவன் தன் மனதை முழுமையாகத் தன் வசப்படுத்தி, தலைவியைப் பற்றிய கவலையின்றித் தன்னிச்சையாக இருக்கிறான். ஆனால், தலைவியின் நெஞ்சமோ தலைவிக்குக் கட்டுப்படாமல், எப்போதும் அவனையே நினைத்துக் கொண்டு அவனிடமே செல்லத் துடிக்கிறது. "அவனது நெஞ்சம் அவனுக்கு உறுதுணையாக இருக்கும்போது, என் சொந்த நெஞ்சமான நீ மட்டும் எனக்குச் சாதகமாக இல்லாமல் அவனுக்கு ஆதரவாக மாறுவது ஏன்?" என்று தலைவி தன் மனதின் விசுவாசமின்மையை எண்ணிச் செல்லமாகக் கடிந்து கொள்வதை இக்குறள் நயம்பட எடுத்துரைக்கின்றது.

Meaning:

"Oh my heart! Seeing that his heart remains devoted only to him, why do you refuse to take my side and instead yield entirely to him?"

Explanation:

The beloved notes the stark contrast between her partner's heart and her own. While her lover's mind is comfortably loyal to his own desires and self-control, her own heart betrays her by constantly taking his side and dwelling on him. Amused and frustrated by this imbalance, she questions why her mind refuses to stand by her and instead acts as an advocate for her beloved.
