131/1301:திருக்குறள்:

புல்லா திராஅப் புலத்தை அவர்உறும்

அல்லல்நோய் காண்கம் சிறிது.

பொருள்:

தோழி தலைவியிடம், "நீ உடனே அவரோடு கூடாமல் செல்லமாகப் பிணங்கி நில்; அதனாலே அவர் அடையும் ஏக்கத் துன்பத்தைச் சிறிது நேரம் நாம் கண்டு மகிழ்வோம்" என்று கூறுகிறாள்.

விரிவாக்கம்:

தலைவன் தழுவ வரும்போது உடனே அவனோடு இணங்கிவிடாமல், சிறிது நேரம் செல்லமாக ஊடல் கொண்டு விலகி நிற்குமாறு தோழி தலைவிக்கு யோசனை கூறுகிறாள். அவ்வாறு பிணங்கி நிற்பதால், தலைவன் அடையும் அந்தச் சிறு காதல் ஏக்கத்தையும் தவிப்பையும் கண்டு ரசிப்பது காதலின்பத்தை மேலும் பெருக்கும் என்பதை இக்குறள் நயம்பட எடுத்துரைக்கின்றது.

"Do not rush to embrace him; sulk a little so we may observe the sweet agony of his yearning!"

Explanation:
